Well boys, the most anticipated game in college basketball is just one day away. There is much trash talk that goes on between fans of these two teams, and tomorrow, the ultimate battle for bragging rights will take place.
The Creighton Bluejays (7-1) will be traveling down I-80 to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers (6-1). After winning the last two games against major conference opponents, the Huskers are looking to pull a major upset over the #16 ranked Bluejays. Creighton has one of the best teams they have seen in a while, with pre-season All-American Doug McDermott and another very talented and physical player in Gregory Echenique. The Bluejays started the season strong with a solid win over Wisconsin, but suffered a rough setback with a loss to Boise State.
The Huskers on the other hand have a very raw team under new head coach Tim Miles. Miles has already instilled a new enthusiasm for basketball. There was little expectation going into this season, but with back to back wins over Wake Forest and USC, there is more excitement about Nebraska Basketball since Eric Piatkowski.
Expect this game to be a battle until the end. Creighton is probably the more talented team, however, Coach Miles has his Huskers playing with more heart than ever. The matchup between Doug McDermott and Brandon Ubel will be especially entertaining, both fundamentally solid basketball players. Although this game will be close, I believe the Huskers, behind the silky stroke of Ray Gallegos, will prevail.
After the game, Doug McDermott will most likely be able to be found sulking over the loss at the nearest self-serve frozen yogurt eatery.
